RMU Workshop: Hymns and cultural transfer in the Baltic Sea region of the 17th century
As part of the alliance of the Rhine-Main Universities, Goethe University Frankfurt and Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz will be holding a workshop on the topic "Hymns and the practice of hymns in the Baltic Sea region of the 17th century" on 10 and 11 December.
Under the heading "Hymns and cultural transfer in the Baltic Sea region of the 17th century. Interdisciplinary perspectives", hymnologists, theologists, musicologists and music theorists will hold various talks on both days on the hymn repertoire of the 17th century and its consequences for figural music.

The research project "Kirchenlied und Kirchenmusikpraxis im 17. Jahrhundert" (Hymns and the practice of hymns in the 17th century) is a collaborative project funded under the RMU Initiative Funding for Research. The aim of the project is to collect the repertoire of hymns from the German-Danish border area and vocal and instrumental compositions based on this corpus and to analyze them in case studies.
